Operation Exodus Benefit Concert

Come hear Sergei Rachmaninov's exquisite sonata for cello and piano, paired with the brilliantly virtuosic sonata for cello and piano by Alfred Schnittke. The concert will also feature three beautiful sacred songs arranged by Tom Jennings. About the artists:

Nathan Vickery volunteers as a weekly mentor with Operation Exodus in Washington Heights. He works with underserved youth to give them opportunities for education, enrichment, and faith-based mentoring. Lauded as a "formidable cello soloist" (New York Times), Nathan appears regularly in solo and chamber music recitals and music festivals around the country. In September 2013 Nathan joined the New York Philharmonic as its youngest member, performing and touring with the orchestra at home in New York and throughout the world. Nathan is a member of the Rosamunde String Quartet, the Dolce Suono Ensemble, and The Vickery Three. He performs frequently on the New York Philharmonic chamber music series Ensembles at Merkin Hall, and on the Philharmonic's CONTACT! series of contemporary chamber music. Nathan received his Bachelors degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, under the tutelage of Peter Wiley. 

Hailed by the Boston Globe as a "thoughtfully attuned pianist," Tom Jennings is a versatile pianist and composer who has worked in a wide array of musical genres. He has performed and recorded with artists such as Leslie Uggams, Steve Ross, Branford Marsalis and Paquito DRivera. Tom has accompanied numerous opera stars, including Ben Heppner, Heidi Grant Murphy, and Jerome Hines, has appeared extensively as a recitalist and orchestral soloist, and played for Broadway and off-Broadway shows. He is the composer of published works for string quartet, jazz band, brass quintet, liturgical and commercial music. Since 1995 Tom has served as Music Director at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City. He holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Manhattan School of Music.
