Our mission and vision
A space for the UWS community to seek spiritual, social and cultural renewal for our city.
As the worship space and community center of Redeemer Presbyterian Church on the Upper West Side, W83 Ministry Center was founded in 2012 as a place where our Christian community could welcome and serve our neighbors and our city. Based on Jeremiah 29:7, we seek to love God and our neighbors by partnering with others to bring about the flourishing of all people in a great city. Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. Jeremiah 29:7
Changed lives: We seek to create a safe place for people of all backgrounds to explore questions, doubts and curiosity about God and the ways faith may renew and transform our hearts, identities, relationships and society.
Community formation: We seek to invite people to connect with one another in a diverse community that is grounded in generosity, humility, service and hospitality.
Social justice: We seek to support initiatives that engage individuals and communities in bringing justice and compassion for the flourishing of all people across our city and globe.
Cultural renewal: We seek to cultivate the vibrant engagement of our Upper West Side community in the culture of New York City, exploring and celebrating the ways we can express faith across industries, arts and civic sectors.
Generative networks: We seek to grow a partnership of New Yorkers in every neighborhood serving through the churches, institutions and companies where God has placed them to bring flourishing to all people throughout the city.
